ABIDE Document Community Forum
Dear Luther Community,
In April 2021, we began sharing with the community a document that framed our DEI work, naming it as ABIDE. The document’s authors, Matt Skinner, Lois Malcom, Ken Reynhout, and Mark Tranvik produced what later became known as the ABIDE document and this was shared across our community.
We are now preparing to get the ABIDE document approved as an institutional document.
Several departments have already provided feedback and we want to invite you to our final community-wide feedback session. This will be an on-line gathering via Zoom.
We are hoping to present this to the board at the May board meeting. Once the communication process has been concluded, the original authors of the document will amend it and prepare it for presentation to the board. Our aim, ultimately, is to steer a process that will culminate in the board’s review and approval for use of the ABIDE document as an institutional document.
The final ABIDE session is this Friday, January 13, 2023, from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. (facilitators Dr. Ken Reynhout and Dr. Lois Malcolm.)
The Zoom link will be shared via email.
Intensive and RFS Listening Session for DL Students—Friday
The DL Intensive and RFS Committee of Student Council would like to hear your voice!
BYO lunch to Dining Room C (in the back of the dining hall in OCC) after chapel on Friday during both intensive weeks.
What has your experience with intensive and RFS sessions been? What has been good and what has been difficult? How can the overall experience be improved?
Dean Terri Elton and members of the Student Council will be in attendance to hear from you. We hope to see you there!
Community Life Lip Sync Battle
It’s time to pick your favorite song and brush up on your dancing skills. Community Life is bringing back the Lip Sync Battle. On January 20, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in OCC dining hall, we will have a night of “singing” and dancing with our MCs for the evening, Morgan Simmons and Erik Nelson! And let us not forget our celebrity judges, Dr. Amy Marga and Crystal Zemlin! Dinner will be provided from La Tapatia. Come on by for delicious food, rocking music, and the dramatic battle of the evening! If you would like to sign up to perform, use your Luther email to sign up here by January 18th. If you have any questions, email community life (communitylife@luthersem.edu) or Anna Ferro (aferro001@luthersem.edu).
