How Is the Church Called to Address Climate Change?
Noticing the effects of climate change, and wondering what your role as a Christian public leader has to do with it? Join the Luther Seminary Eco-Faith Group on November 7 from 8–9 p.m. as they discuss the draft ELCA social message on Climate Care with guest speaker Dr. Jim Martin-Schramm.
Dr. Martin-Schramm is an ELCA pastor and professor emeritus of Luther College who is part of the writing team drafting the statement. Currently a draft is available at elca.org/climatecare and public feedback is being solicited through a survey on this site until December 2.
The Zoom link will be made available next week. Please plan to attend having already read the draft. Students, staff, and faculty of all denominations are invited to attend, while this document is being written for the ELCA, climate change affects us all and all of us are called to respond in Christian ways.
Please reach out to Lucas Byl – lbyl001@luthersem.edu or Alex Theship-Rosales – atheshiprosales001@luthersem.edu with questions.

Respectful Conversations Town Hall Forum
November 16
12–2 p.m. (Lunch to be provided – look for an RSVP form in your email soon!)
OCC Dining Room and on Zoom
The Office of Student Affairs together with the members of the RIC Committee and Luther International Students have been planning a facilitated dialogue and conversation to discuss issues that are significant to our community. This first meeting will focus on the following theme, “What Does it Mean to Belong at Luther Seminary?”
We are partnering with the Respectful Conversations Ministry of the Minnesota Council of Churches and have contracted with Lead Facilitator Joan Haan for this event. Respectful Conversations is based on Christian principles and is aimed at creating a path to strengthening community among people with differing views.
This Respectful Conversation is designed to build empathy, soften hearts, and deepen understanding.
We see the success of this Respectful Conversation depending on the attendance and support of our entire community of faculty, staff and students.
While we would love everyone to have the full experience of the dialogue by being together in the same room, we are also providing a hybrid option for those who need it.
Zoom link to be provided in community announcements email.
Please remain in prayer for this event and we hope to see you there.
