Noticing the effects of climate change, and wondering what your role as a Christian public leader has to do with it? Join the Luther Seminary Eco-Faith Group on November 7 from 8–9 p.m. as they discuss the draft ELCA social message on Climate Care with guest speaker Dr. Jim Martin-Schramm.
Dr. Martin-Schramm is an ELCA pastor and professor emeritus of Luther College who is part of the writing team drafting the statement. Currently a draft is available at elca.org/climatecare and public feedback is being solicited through a survey on this site until December 2.
The Zoom link will be made available next week. Please plan to attend having already read the draft. Students, staff, and faculty of all denominations are invited to attend, while this document is being written for the ELCA, climate change affects us all and all of us are called to respond in Christian ways.
Luther Seminary has surplus items such as chairs, tables, cabinets, and more that are being offered free to seminary staff. The items are located in Northwestern Hall main lobby area. Access for inspection will be available via the upper level doors off of Fulham Street, Monday through Friday (November 7–11), 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All items must be removed by November 18. Any questions contact Tom Mullaney in the Facilities Department.
Please join the CPE team at Luther and Chaplain Christopher Otten to learn more about chaplaincy as a pathway in ministry! We will gather in OCC Aux Room 148 after chapel at 11:30am on Tuesday, November 8th. Lunch will be provided for those who are able to meet in person. Please RSVP if you plan to join us in person or on Zoom!
The Rev. Christopher L. Otten was called as the Assistant to the Presiding Bishop for Federal Chaplaincies of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in January 2019. Chaplain Otten served nearly twenty-one years as a Federal Chaplain, activated United States Air Force Chaplain, and Air National Guard Chaplain/Federal Technician. He now oversees the 183 ELCA Federal Chaplains who serve the government in the military, Veterans Administration hospitals, Bureau of Prisons, and other Federal Agencies. Beginning in June 2021, he also supports and coordinates for all Chaplains within the ELCA, serving in hospitals, hospices, and other service agencies.
Save the date! Please plan to join us for the 2022 Winter Graduate Recognition Service and Community Meal at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, in the Chapel of the Incarnation in Olson Campus Center.
