COVID-19 Dashboard for April 11-14

Posted on April 19, 2022

Reported employee cases: 0
Reported student cases: 0
Students in quarantine or isolation: 0

Reported cases only include students and employees who have been on campus within a period of time during which they may have been contagious. According to the CDC this includes two days prior to the onset of symptoms or a positive test.

If you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, or if you are an unvaccinated individual who has been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of that person for 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period), please report that to the appropriate person. For employees, that person is Michael Morrow (mmorrow001@luthersem.edu). Students should contact Leon Rodrigues (deanofstudents@luthersem.edu).

Contact Tracing Protocol

When an on-campus case of COVID-19 is reported, that person is first asked to stay off-campus and quarantine in accordance with CDC guidelines. In addition, the seminary takes two steps for contact tracing:

1. The Minnesota Department of Health is notified, per guidelines for institutions of higher education

2. The person reporting the case is asked to identify “close contacts”; the close contacts identified are notified of the exposure and asked to follow CDC guidelines for testing and quarantining (quarantine applies only to close contacts who are unvaccinated).

Bible Madness: Final Results

Posted on April 19, 2022

Bible Madness has ended! And the winner is…….

The Gospel of Luke!!!!!!!!!

The Gospel of Luke has survived the Final Judgment to win the title of Best Book in the Bible (among our readers). And for good reason! Think about the essential passages of faith found only in Luke. The feminist verses of liberation in the Magnificat! The Parable of the Prodigal Son! The revelation of resurrection on the Road to Emmaus! Also there’s something about a Good Samaritan, but I don’t think anyone has ever read that story.

Thank you all for participating in this tournament of Bible Madness! It literally could not have happened without you, and we hope that it gave you some joy and fascination during this Lenten season! Hope you had a happy Holy Week!

Student Representative to the Word & World Board

Student Representative Positions on the Word & World Board for 2022-23

Word & World is the faculty journal for Luther Seminary, and its purpose is to publish articles and information on theology for Christian ministry. Every year we invite two Luther Seminary students (any degree program) to serve as student representatives to the journal’s governing board. The purpose is to gain input from future theological leaders about our publishing program. Duties are basically to attend two to three meetings a year and to act as a sounding board for our plans. More engagement with the journal is possible, but not a condition for application. For information on Word & World see our website.

To apply for one of these two positions, send a letter of application to the editor, Professor Mark Granquist, at mgranquist001@luthersem.edu. Letters should explain why you are applying for this position, what you can bring to the position, and how you think that this experience would benefit you and the journal. Applications are due by Friday, May 6.
