Rm 4515 33 – Ministry In Small Town And Rural Contexts

Are you curious about small-town and rural culture, communities, and ministry? We have room for Luther students to join us.

The catalog does not say we will be staying at Shalom Hill Farm, a retreat center in Southwestern Minnesota for four nights and five days. Thanks to the generosity of rural donors, this experience, meals, transportation, and housing in a beautiful prairie setting for four nights is a gift to help you understand and explore rural and small-town ministry. We will visit a variety of communities, contexts, and congregations/parishes on field trips on the days we are there.

Here is the catalog language. “Students, together with clergy and lay persons from small town and rural congregations, study issues[challenges and opportunities] affecting America’s small town and rural (STaR) communities. Clergy and lay persons from STaR congregations and communities are engaged as part of the course. Implications for ministry and leadership in these contexts are explored.”.

Register if you are looking for this course. If you have questions, contact Pr. Jon Anderson – Rural Ministry Director at janderson008@luthersem.edu.
