Due to some very recent changes to the Spring 2021-22 course schedule, we have decided to suspend registration for Spring Semester for one week. All registration will be temporarily put on pause and a number of courses will be updated to more clearly reflect their modality (online or residential for example) and time/date/place.

This action is being taken in response to student requests, the reality of designing classes while the possibility remains that ability to travel may shift again, and the wish of faculty to provide the most accessible learning opportunities in this ever-changing moment.

This means that seniors and others who registered yesterday remain registered. We may need to clarify some of your courses but we will reach out directly to you if that is the case. Those who have registered already do NOT need to do anything more.

Seniors, Interns, Th.M. and Ph.D. who didn’t finish registering and might have done so today will begin registration again on Wednesday, December 15, at 7:45 a.m. Central.

Middlers and concurrent interns (year 1) who were to begin registration this Thursday will now register on Thursday, December 16, beginning at 7:45 a.m. Central.

Juniors who were to begin registration this Friday will now register on Friday, December 17, beginning at 7:45 a.m. Central.

New admits for Spring Semester who were to begin registration next Tuesday will now register on Monday, December 20, beginning at 7:45 a.m. Central.

Non-degree and certificate students who were to begin registration next Thursday will now register on Tuesday, December 21, beginning at 7:45 a.m. Central.

We don’t take these decisions lightly, and we want to get things right, so we thank you in advance for your understanding.

Kathryn Schifferdecker, professor and Elva B. Lovell Chair of Old Testament, will break open the word for us at 11 a.m. Wednesday as we celebrate Holy Communion, leaning forward toward the texts of Advent Three.

Don’t forget! Today’s the day to order food for this week for the food shelf. In an effort to cut food waste, we’re going to direct ordering. The great news? You’ll be able to order exactly what you want! Would you rather have fresh produce, meat, or a chocolate bar? We’ll order it for you (up to $20/week)! To remind you, here’s the new process:
1) Fill out this form by Wednesday each week.
You’ll notice that you’re able to order anything that’s available at Aldi! If you need to see their list, visit their products page. You’re welcome to order anything up to $20.
2) You can pick up your items in the basement kitchen of Bockman anytime between 1-6 on Friday afternoons. They will be bagged and labeled with your name. We hope that time period will work for everyone! But, if you have an emergency and are unable to come at that time, please communicate with Community Life (communitylife@luthersem.edu) to set up a time for pickup.

Too often, many of us in leadership end up bearing the brunt of mental health stress and an epidemic of unkindness. Unfortunately, the holidays tend to magnify these burdens. Naming these issues and building some strategies for addressing them can not only normalize the struggles for others, but give us the tools to respond with grace.
