Based on results from the Financial Wellness survey of Luther Seminary students completed in October 2020, the Stewardship Leaders Program has developed these financial wellness offerings:
Ongoing Offerings
Financial Wellness Conversation with Grace Pomroy (Sign up here)
Students are invited to have one or more financial wellness conversations via phone or Zoom with Grace Pomroy, Director of the Stewardship Leaders Program at Luther Seminary and a Certified Financial Education Instructor. Students will determine the topics that will be covered based on their specific situation. The student and Grace, together, will determine together what the next steps should be.
Financial Counseling with Lutheran Social Service
Luther Seminary is partnering with Financial Choice at Lutheran Social Service (LSS) of Minnesota to offer students and their immediate family members six free sessions of financial counseling per year. Appointments are available via phone, video call, or email. LSS financial counselors are certified and equipped to handle a wide range of topics that will benefit our students like creating a plan for student loan and/or credit card debt, credit reports, home foreclosure, and more. NOTE: Students do not need to be Lutheran or located in the state of Minnesota to take advantage of this service.
Clergy Tax Information Conversation
The goal of this offering is to provide an opportunity for students preparing for ordained ministry to learn more about the intricacies of clergy taxes and how it might apply to their particular situation. We are partnering with Clergy Financial Resources and will refer students directly to them. NOTE: This is not a tax preparation service.
