Student Listening Sessions on Campus Relocation [In-Person and Online]
Luther Seminary students are invited to one of two upcoming spaces to hold conversation with one another about the relocation of the seminary. This is a conversation space to process what we’re holding—personally and as a community—as we approach the move. Many of us are experiencing everything from deep grief to hopeful anticipation, often intermingled and with a lot in between. We invite you to bring all of this into a spacious conversation with one another. There are two opportunities, and you are invited to choose one to attend:
- Tuesday, May 5, 6:15–7:45 p.m. In-Person Only
—dinner provided, OCC Dining Room (in place of Simple Supper program) - Thursday, May 7, 6:15–7:45 p.m. Zoom Only (link in email)
We want to be able to speak with one another in a face-to-face way, so we are holding these conversations in one modality at a time. Choose which one works best for you. If you have questions, please contact Cody Sanders (csanders001@luthersem.edu).
April “Brake Bread” Community Gathering
Start your morning with our seventh “Brake Bread” event on Thursday, April 23 in Gullixson Hall 101 from 9-10 a.m. We will gather around bread, jam, and coffee while building deeper community connections and celebrating a particular campus space—this time in Gullixson Hall. Supported by an Endowment Lab Grant from Thrivent, these “Brake Bread” gatherings are intentional moments to build relationships, listen to one another, laugh together, and celebrate the good work and learning being done among us. Please join us in this holy space to love one another more deeply in a time of uncertainty. If you have questions, email Emily Rova-Hegener in Contextual Learning, erovahegener001@luthersem.edu.
New Summer Elective: God the Holy Spirit
Planning for your summer courses? Consider the elective “God the Holy Spirit” to learn more about the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives and throughout the world. The course fulfills an elective requirement for Systematic Theology and Justice and Reconciliation. It is offered online asynchronous, though you will have a choice for asynchronous and synchronous small groups. Contact Lois Malcolm (lmalcolm@luthersem.edu) for more information.
Immigration and the Border Library Resources
The Luther Seminary Library offers a short bibliography on the current issues of immigration. Is there a theology of immigration? This month’s resource relates to the issues of the US southern border and theology and ministry, and it includes a map of the “Refugee Highway.” Check out these many new books (2024-2026) on the subject.
