Art Collection Lunch & Learn – August 12 [Hybrid]
On Wednesday, August 12 at 11:30 a.m., bring your own lunch and share your thoughts on what the Luther Seminary Art Collection should look like in our new space. The Art Working Group will provide information on the current state of the collection, then we’ll hear your ideas for how we might intentionally integrate art into our communal life in the coming years. We gather in OCC 10 or on Zoom (link in email). Reach out to Caleb with any questions at crollins002@luthersem.edu.

July Is Disability Pride Month
Each July, Disability Pride Month recognizes the history, achievements, experiences, and contributions of people with disabilities. It is also an opportunity to challenge stereotypes, promote accessibility, and remember that disability is a natural part of human diversity. Disability Pride Month is celebrated in July because the Americans with Disabilities Act, commonly called the ADA, was signed into law on July 26, 1990. The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits disability discrimination in employment, government programs and services, public accommodations, transportation, and other areas of public life. Congress later broadened the law through the ADA Amendments Act of 2008. The ADA helped establish the important principle that disability rights are civil rights. Disability Pride Month invites all of us to listen to disabled people, examine barriers, and treat accessibility as a shared responsibility throughout the year. For information about disability services or requesting accommodations at Luther Seminary, contact disability@luthersem.edu.
Farmfest Rural Economic and Cultural Experience – August 5 [In-Person]
Students, faculty, and staff, on Wednesday, August 5, there is an opportunity to experience an agricultural, rural gathering at Farmfest in southwestern Minnesota. We will leave Luther Seminary at 7 a.m. in a van whose cost is covered by rural ministry grants. Tickets will also be covered for participants. Morgan, Minnesota, is a couple of hours out. We will arrive at the fest around 9:30 and return home in the early evening. It may be closer for you to meet us at the Farmfest site. Parking is free. We will still pick up the cost of entering and lunch. This trip is an opportunity to learn about the opportunities, challenges, economics, politics, and lifestyle of rural and small-town people and communities in this part of the Midwest. Candidates for governor and senator in the state of Minnesota will be in candidate forums that day too. If you are interested in participating, email janderson008@luthersem.edu or sign up here. We have limited spaces.
