In this devotion, Sally Messner ’07 M.S.M. notes that this psalm’s stark, vivid images depict the very real plight of so many suffering people and that, in whatever form it takes, our suffering will not overwhelm us. Read today’s God Pause.

Candlelight Taize Evening Prayer [In-Person]
Tonight at 7 p.m. CT, there will be a service of evening prayer with Taizé chant. This service will be held in the OCC Chapel—if you walk in and there are no lights on, it’s because we have candles! These services will continue Thursdays throughout Lent. All are welcome!
Movie Night: Jesus Christ Superstar – March 30 [In-Person]
Join the Luther Seminary community Monday, March 30 at 4:50 p.m. in OCC 10 for a viewing of Jesus Christ Superstar (1973), the classic “rock opera that tells the story of the last week of Jesus’ life from the perspective of the traitorous Judas Iscariot” (Britannica). Whether you love it, hold it at a distance, or have never seen it, come out and enjoy the food, music, and of course theological analysis with your classmates as we begin Holy Week. Dinner from Mim’s Cafe will be provided through the generosity of the Student Council. Please sign up for a plate through this form by Friday, March 27, so we can order the right amount of food.
Be Still – Virtual Community Stillness Practice [Online]
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (Matt. 11:28-30). If you’re anything like me, it seems to be getting harder and harder to live freely and lightly, and I need all the support I can muster to stay focused on learning the unforced rhythms of grace. Join us for the next virtual gathering of Be Still this upcoming Thursday, March 26 at 6:15 p.m. CT. We will engage in community stillness practices and discussion around the theme of ‘reconciling.’ Come as you are to as many sessions as you’re able. We will meet every other Thursday for the remainder of the semester, starting this Thursday 3/26 at 6:15pm (Central). Email me, Alison Westphal, at awestphal001@luthersem.edu, if you’re interested in joining, or if you have questions. Join us on Zoom (link in email).
The Many Places of Luther Seminary
Learn about the many locations and buildings of Luther Seminary and its predecessors in a photo slideshow playing in the OCC lobby and available online. The history of our institution and its buildings is rich and varied. You’ll see that reflected in images of old mansions, a hotel that housed classes for a year, and even a tiny house for a cat that used to be on the lower campus. If you have questions or want to learn more, reach out to Caleb Rollins in the archives at crollins002@luthersem.edu.
