Student Council Secondary Election Now Open
A secondary election is being held for a student council position that was vacant after the first election. Ballots are now open for the MDiv DL Senior Representative. Please note that only MDiv DL Seniors may vote for this representative.
Please use a Luther Seminary email address to access the ballot form.
The Distributed Learning MA CYF/LIM/CM/Lutheran Ministries Program Representative was also vacant after the first election. Because there were no nominees who accepted their nomination in either election, that position will remain empty for now. Inquiries or questions can be directed to studentcouncil@luthersem.edu.
Elections will be open until Thursday, October 19, at 12 PM (noon) CST.
Thank you for taking the time to vote; your voice is important! If you have any questions, please reach out to the Election Commissioners (below).
Sincerely,
Rachel Wyffels and Sarah Yotter
Self-Identification Form for Student Council
Students, please use this form so Student Council can properly provide the Specific Representatives (International Students, BIPOC, Ecumenical, and LGBTQIA+) their constituents. The only person that will see your name and how you identify is Student Council Secretary, Ashley Teter, who will then pass your name along to the proper representative. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ashley at ateter001@luthersem.edu.
Interested in Handbell Ringing? October 25 Is Your Chance. No Experience Required.
Do you play handbells, or have you ever wanted to play handbells? We need 8-10 handbell ringers to do some random ringing with the opening hymn during our Reformation Service on October 25. (Operative word is “random.”)
Zero experience required—no music reading necessary—only a willingness to give it a try.
Please let Arlene Flancher know at aflancher001@luthersem.edu. We’ll meet at 10:30 am on Oct 25 and you’ll learn everything you need to know before playing in worship. I promise!
Collecting Warm Winter Outer Wear for Our Community
The dropping temperatures seem especially cold to our newest students unused to Minnesota’s quickly changing seasons. And, since most international students arrive from warm weather countries, they have no cold weather clothing to bring with them.
Thus, International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) is collecting warm winter gear in good, usable condition for our international students. Along with winter coats, most needed are hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, boots, sweaters, and sweatshirts. Adult sizes only, specifically:
- Men’s medium (a few large and XL); boots sized 8-11/11.5
- Women’s medium (a few small and large); boots sized 8 or 10
You may bring your donations to Student Affairs in Bockman 249, or leave them in the tub outside the office. No additional clothing is being accepted at this time.
Remaining items will be distributed to our seminary community through the seminary Food Shelf. Any items not used will be donated locally to those in need.
Questions? Contact Alyssa Saleem, Bockman Head Resident, or Chenar Howard, ISSA Director. Thank you!
