Interested in participating in Word & World as a student member of the editorial board? Word & World is the quarterly journal of Theology for Christian Ministry published by the faculty of the seminary. Its work is guided by the staff and an editorial board made up of seven members of the Luther faculty and two students. The students are full voting members of the board. Two student positions are open for the 2026–2027 academic year, starting September 1, 2026. Membership on the board is voluntary and unsalaried, but students do get the opportunity to participate in the life of a significant theological journal. Duties include regular attendance at board meetings (perhaps two or three per year) and thoughtful contribution to the board’s work, including bringing ideas for issues and authors. All students, in any program, are eligible. If you would like to be a student board member for 2026–2027, reply both to Jennifer Pietz, board chair (jpietz002@luthersem.edu) and Mark Granquist, editor (mgranquist001@luthersem.edu) with a note that spells out your interest in the position, your qualifications, and your availability to attend meetings on campus during regular business hours on weekdays (in-person attendance is greatly preferred). Include also your year, program, and anticipated graduation date. To be considered, your statement of interest must be received by Friday, May 8, 2026. Let us know if you have any questions.

The Many Places of Luther Seminary
Learn about the many locations and buildings of Luther Seminary and its predecessors in a photo slideshow playing in the OCC lobby and available online. The history of our institution and its buildings is rich and varied. You’ll see that reflected in images of old mansions, a hotel that housed classes for a year, and even a tiny house for a cat that used to be on the lower campus. If you have questions or want to learn more, reach out to Caleb Rollins in the archives at crollins002@luthersem.edu.
God Pause for April 22: 1 Peter 2
In this devotion, Bill Boelter ’87 M.Div., observes how, despite threats to the church in many places, the church remains alive, active, and even growing in those places. Read today’s God Pause.
Wednesday Chapel: Service of Holy Communion [Hybrid]
We gather at 11 a.m. CT in the Chapel of the Incarnation for a service of Holy Communion. Dwight Zscheile, professor of congregational mission and leadership will be preaching and Ph.D. student Danielle Dokman will preside. We will explore Jesus’ community in the Spirit in the context of community today. The service will be livestreamed. Share your prayer requests.
Join Us for Lunch – April 22
Join us for lunch after chapel on April 22 for our Society of Stewards donor event. You’ll hear testimonies from current Ph.D. students Ruth Ibrahim and Danielle Dokman, and will hear from past Luther Seminary president David Tiede, who supports Ph.D. students through his scholarship gifts. The event is open to all students, faculty, and staff, and lunch will be provided.
Library Insights and Resources for Earth Day
For Earth Day 2026, we’re asking, “What’s up with the wild weather and other climate trends we see around the globe?” and wondering how to talk about it in ministry settings. See this Luther Seminary Library guide to resources on Global Warming, Climate Change, and Christian Faith.
