Farewell to Rachel Postler

Posted on June 27, 2025

We invite you to celebrate and thank Rachel Postler for her work as project manager for the Festival of Homiletics. Her last day at Luther Seminary will be June 30. Rachel’s organization, leadership, and team-building has been integral to bringing the Festival into a new, post-Covid era. Her ability to listen deeply with a pastoral presence while also holding firm boundaries to move projects forward at a steady pace will be missed!

Farmfest 2025 – Rural Economic and Cultural Experience

Posted on June 27, 2025

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join us Wednesday, August 6 for an opportunity to experience the agricultural rural gathering Farmfest in Morgan, in southwestern Minnesota. We will leave at 7 a.m. in a van whose cost is covered by rural ministry grants. Tickets for participants from the seminary will also be covered. Morgan is a few hours from campus. We will arrive at the fest around 9:30 a.m. This is an opportunity to learn about the economics, politics, and lifestyles of rural and small-town people in this part of the midwest. There is room for five people in the van. People in the surrounding areas might want to join us as well and meet up at the festival. Learn more on the Farmfest website. Reach out to Jon Anderson, janderson008@luthersem.edu, with any questions.

Joseph Sittler Memorial Dedication – June 28

Posted on June 26, 2025

You are invited to help us honor the life and work of renowned theologian Joseph Sittler. We hope you can be part of an informal gathering on Saturday, June 28 at Minnehaha Regional Park at 1:00 p.m. central. The event was originally scheduled last fall and postponed for better weather and more participation. The gathering will take place a mile downstream from Minnehaha Falls, at a new park bench installed in Sittler’s honor, near where Minnehaha Creek meets the Mississippi River. This scenic location was chosen to reflect Sittler’s belief that “nature is a theater of Grace.” Stewart Herman, visiting fellow at the Christensen Center on Vocation at Augsburg College and retired faculty of religion at Concordia College–Moorhead, is organizing the event and shares: “God’s Word is active in nature, which to the eyes of faith can be seen when the Minnehaha rushes to the Mississippi. We gather to honor Joseph Sittler’s path-breaking incorporation of ecology into Lutheran theology by sharing, individually, our favorite ideas from his work. Bring your favorite quote!” For more information, reach out to Dr. Herman at herman@cord.edu.
