Chapel Planning and Participation – Fall 2024
Greetings Luther Seminary community from Steve Thomason. As I step into the Dean of the Chapel role, I want to begin by saying something: We need your help and creativity! Please join me Wednesday, August 28 at 12:30 p.m. in Dining Room A for a community meeting where I hope to accomplish a couple things:
- I would love to hear about your hopes and dreams for how we can share meaningful worship experiences together this fall.
- I would also love to learn about all the hidden talents and skills that exist in our campus community in music, art, public speaking, writing, and all the various components that go into creating a robust worship experience.
If you are not able to attend this meeting, would you be willing to fill out a quick survey to let us know how you would like to participate in this collaborative process?

New Printers Coming to Luther Seminary Campus
We will be replacing all leased printers on campus later in August. Leased printers are primarily those found in public areas, though a few might be in individual office spaces. Our current printers are Canon, and the new printers that will be installed are Sharp. The Sharp replacements are similar models and have similar features to what we are currently using. The newer equipment should function better. We anticipate that we will not have to install new driver software on any individual computers on campus. Installing the new printers will happen over a period of several days:
- Gullixson Hall + Bockman Hall — Wednesday, August 21
- Olson Campus Center — Friday, August 23
For each printer location, there will be a brief period of down time when the old one has been removed and the new one is still being installed. After installation, the process of using Follow Me to send a job from a computer and then go to any printer to print will remain the same. And your current ID card will work on the new devices just as they do on current printers. Our maintenance contract and service will stay the same. Please continue to report printer problems as you do now—via the help desk ticketing system, helpdesk@luthersem.edu. One advantage to our new vendor is that Augsburg University also uses this vendor and Sharp equipment, so our OT staff are already familiar with the equipment. That said, our OT staff is engaging in additional training in anticipation of these updates. And as always, they are happy to meet with you for additional support once the new printers have been installed. Thank you for your patience with and support of this process.
