Upgrade to Windows 11 [Hybrid]

Posted on March 6, 2026

The seminary’s standard operating system environment will be upgraded on Wednesday, March 11. At 6 p.m. CT, we will begin the process of transitioning all seminary-managed Windows 10 computers to Windows 11. What to expect:

  • Automatic Upgrade. The upgrade will be deployed automatically. Please keep your computers on if you are on campus. If you are remote, the update will push to your computer regardless of you being on campus. The update may not reach your computer immediately and may take a few hours to reach your machine. Your computer will not restart unless you approve the restart or if it’s outside of active hours.
  • Minimal Downtime. We anticipate that the process should take approximately 30 minutes, during which your device will be unavailable. Please leave your computers at your desk before heading home or keep it on during the night at home. We encourage you to save and close all open files and applications before leaving work Wednesday, March 11.
  • How to Prepare. As always, it is important to save and backup all of your files to Google Drive or another cloud backup solution.
  • Classrooms. Classroom and lab computers have already been upgraded to Windows 11 during the summer.

Post-Upgrade Support:

  • Our IT support team will be available to assist with any questions or issues you may encounter after the upgrade. If you experience any difficulties, please contact the Office Of Technology at helpdesk@luthersem.edu or 651-641-3462.
  • We have provided documentation and a quick-start guide to help you navigate the new interface and features.
  • A zoom training session is scheduled on Wednesday March 11, 2026 at 2 p.m. CT for those new to Windows 11 (link in email).

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to maintain a secure, current, and efficient computing environment for our community.

Brake Bread—Community & Connection

Posted on March 5, 2026

Join us tonight from 4:30–6:30 p.m. in the OCC Dining Room for a special evening of Brake Bread: Community and Connection. We are delighted to host Luther alum and board member Tracey Gibson in conversation with Emily Rova-Hegener, along with all of you. This will be a lively, thoughtful, and welcoming space where everyone present is part of the conversation. We’ll be enjoying a delicious Catalonian-inspired meal: Arroz con pollo, stuffed zucchini (v + gf), gazpacho salad (v + gf), tomato bread. The dinner is provided by Community Life. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks are available. Desserts and the “Brake Bread” portion are generously supported by a Thrivent Grant. These Brake Bread gatherings are intentional moments to slow down, listen deeply, laugh freely, and celebrate the meaningful work and learning happening among us. In a time of uncertainty, this is a holy space to strengthen relationships and love one another more deeply. Pull up a chair. Bring your curiosity. Come hungry for good food and good conversation.

Spring Cyber Security Training

Posted on March 5, 2026

It’s almost starting to feel like spring. But give it a few days and we’ll get some snow. No matter the weather, cyber criminals don’t stop. So our twice-annual cyber security training is starting up again for employees. Expect to see a notification email from Huntress (notifications@alerts.mycurricula.com) or visit directly to login. This season you’ll learn about why cyber criminals do what they do.

Zvago Parking Lot Notice

Posted on March 4, 2026

Zvago St. Anthony Park, our neighbors at Luther Seminary, will begin a construction project starting Monday morning. As part of this work, the last two parking spaces on the north end of the shared parking lot (on the Zvago side) will be reserved for construction vehicles. Traffic cones will be placed to mark these spots—however, cones may move or blow away. Please do not park in those two spaces for the next two months or until the project is completed, even if the cones are not present. Your cooperation ensures construction crews can safely and reliably access their designated area. Thank you for helping support our neighbors during their project.
