Nonviolence Training with INVITE

Posted on April 28, 2025

Luther Seminary’s INVITE (Integrating NonViolence into Theological Education) invites you to join in a Kingian nonviolence training May 9-11, 2025 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

Please be committed to the 2.5-day training. We will experience being in a beloved community together and will have a diverse group that brings unique contexts, perspectives, questions, and experiences to our training. Our four trainers are trained in Kingian nonviolence. Pastors Martha Bardwell and Esther Sianipar from Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church were trained recently in Selma, Alabama, at the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth, and Reconciliation. Peter Anderson, executive director of Peace Catalyst International, and Sara Jensen, pastor at Lutheran Church of Christ the Redeemer, are the other two trainers. Session details:
– Friday May 9, 5:30-8:30 p.m. – dinner included
– Saturday May 10, 9-4 p.m. – light breakfast, snacks, lunch included
– Sunday, May 11, 12-4 p.m. – lunch included
Location: 2315 Chicago Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55404

Fees. We want this in person training to be accessible to anyone who wants to attend. Fees associated help us offer the training, materials, meals, stipends, and a donation to the Selma Center. We are offering a sliding scale of $50 – 100 – 200 for the training. Choose the level you are able to pay. You may also request a scholarship, and you are welcome to give more to make room for those who need scholarships. Pay cash or by check (made out to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church) with “Kingian Nonviolence” in the memo line. Or give online using the “Kingian Nonviolence” tile. Register by May 1 by filling out this online form. This will give us time to prepare materials and meals. You may also reach out to Martha Bardwell with any questions, martha@oursavioursmpls.org.
