Field Trip to National Historic Landmark during Fall RFS 1 [In-Person]
Register for a trip to Christ Church Lutheran—in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis—on the morning of Sunday, September 20. This visit will include worship and a tour of the Eliel and Eero Saarinen-designed building that is credited with setting the standard for modernist churches built following World War II. Transportation from Luther Seminary will be available for those who would like to attend both worship and the tour. The tour is hosted by Luther Seminary archivist Caleb Rollins and members of the Christ Church Lutheran community. Please register by September 9. All are welcome!
Join Craig Koester in September for the Fretheim Lecture on Biblical Theology [Hybrid]
Students, faculty, and staff—join us Tuesday, September 22 on the Luther Seminary campus or online for the 2026 Fretheim Lecture in Biblical Theology with Craig Koester—The Death of Jesus and the Message of Life: According to the Gospel of John. This year’s Fretheim Lecture on Biblical Theology explores how, through the crucifixion, God conveys the fullness of his love for the world in order to evoke the faith that gives life. “Life” is the heart of the gospel John proclaims, Koester says, and it defines who God is and what God gives. John presses us to see how God, through the death of Jesus, does indeed give life. John’s Gospel takes us beyond popular notions of sin and sacrifice to present a more radical message.
