As we prepare to sell our Upper Campus, we’ve learned that two underground fuel storage tanks near Bockman Hall need to be removed. This is both good environmental practice and necessary for a successful sale. Unfortunately, preparation for the project will impact one large tree on campus. Here’s what to expect:
Tree Work
– The oak tree behind Bockman Hall will be removed on Friday, August 7.
– The sidewalk between Gullixson Hall and the Olson Campus Center will be closed that morning and reopen by end of day.
Fuel Tank Removal
– Work begins late August. It will take up to 2 weeks to remove the tanks. Soil testing will follow and results are expected within 4 weeks.
– Bockman Hall’s accessible entrance will be closed during the tank removal.
– Parking in the Bockman lot will be limited.
– As of right now, we expect the sidewalk between Gullixson Hall and OCC to remain open during the project.
– We are mindful of the upcoming Fall RFS (September 19–25) and anticipate that the project will be completed by this time. If work is ongoing, we will seek to minimize any disruptions to events on campus.
