Upcoming Tornado Drill: Wednesday, April 1
The Luther Seminary Safety Committee will be conducting a community-wide tornado drill on Wednesday, April 1, at 1:00 p.m. The goal of this drill is to ensure all students, faculty, and staff are familiar with our emergency procedures and shelter locations. Please take a moment to review the instructions below so you are prepared when the alert sounds.
How the drill works:
- The Alert. At 1 p.m., a notification will be sent via the Luther Text Alert System.
- Action. When you receive the alert, stop what you are doing and move immediately to your designated shelter area.
Where to go:
- If you are in Gullixson Hall or Bockman Hall, go to the tunnel connecting the two buildings.
- Olson Campus Center (OCC) – go to the lowest floor of the building.
- Other buildings/outdoors – go to the nearest basement or an interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows.
Important Safety Reminders:
- Avoid Windows. Stay away from glass doors, windows, and outside walls.
- Assist Others. Help guide guests or colleagues who may be unfamiliar with the building layout.
- Stay put. Remain in the shelter area until a “clear” notification is sent via the text alert system.
Not signed up for alerts? If you haven’t yet registered your mobile number to receive emergency notifications, sign up for our text alert system today to ensure you receive the drill notification and future urgent weather updates.
