On Wednesday, August 6, join us to experience rural culture at Farmfest 2025 in Morgan, Minnesota. We will leave at 7 a.m. in a van from the seminary and arrive around 9:30. This is an opportunity to learn about the economics, politics, and lifestyle of rural and small-town people in this part of the midwest. This event is aimed at farmers in the region by its organizers. Thanks to generous donors, the cost to attend (transportation, tickets, meal) is covered.
- On the drive in and out of the city we will talk about the variety of crops, farming techniques, and communities as we travel. If you don’t know much about farming or small town Minnesota, there will be opportunities to ask questions and learn more.
- We will walk around and see farm machinery and other technology, agriculture companies and organizations, and demonstrations. The scale of these machines, their cost and technology will be interesting as we think about what it means for the future of rural communities and congregations.
- The event is set on the historic Gilfillan Farm of Morgan, Minnesota. We hope to have a local pastor join us for part of the day to talk about rural and small town ministry.
- There are food booths to purchase meals inside for lunch.
Please sign up on this form to indicate your interest and/or your intent to join us. If you are able to drive, indicate that too. Questions? Email Jon Anderson, Director of Rural Ministries, at janderson008@luthersem.edu.
