In this devotion, Professor Emeritus James L. Boyce ’71 M.Div. reflects on the call to live not in complacence but with awareness that this life rests in God’s hands and by God’s mercy. Read today’s God Pause.

Were you just recently entranced into ELCA Candidacy or are you in discernment and potentially beginning this journey? Candidacy is a process that will continue throughout your time in seminary if you are planning to be rostered in the ELCA.
Please join Ashley Wheeler, Associate Director of Candidacy and Vocational Formation; and Deacon Krista Anderson, Region 3 Candidacy and Leadership Manager and Program Director for the Support of Ministers of Word and Service; for an information session on Candidacy, Wednesday November 15 at 12:30 p.m. (central).
This will be a hybrid event and lunch will be provided for those able to attend in person. Please RSVP for November 15 here. If you cannot attend, a Zoom recording will be available for those that RSVP.
Please join this free presentation on Luther Seminary’s campus Saturday, November 18 from 3–5 p.m. in the OCC Dining Room area presented by Community Conversations Ecumenical Consortium. As of Monday, November 20, we are integrating the Luther Seminary Community Google calendar and the meeting/events scheduling process into Coursedog, which already houses the course catalog. This change will make it easier for faculty, staff, and students to schedule a meeting or event, reserve space and tech, put an event on the seminary calendar, and see upcoming events at a glance—all in one place.
How will it work?
1) To schedule a meeting or event, reserve a conference room, request tech support for a meeting or event, or put an event on the seminary calendar, select “Event Request” under “Luther Seminary Events” in the right sidebar of inside.luthersem.edu.
2) To see the calendar of upcoming events, select “Upcoming Events” under “Luther Seminary Events” in the right sidebar of inside.luthersem.edu. The Luther Seminary Community Google calendar will be retired as of November 20.
3) To promote your upcoming event to the seminary community, please continue to submit community announcements as usual. However, there will no longer be an option on the form to “submit this event to the community calendar.” You will need to create the event request separately by following the process above. Submitting a community announcement will NOT put your event on the seminary calendar as of November 20.
Need help? Please review this guide to event scheduling or follow along with this video tutorial. Operations/IT staff will also be available to answer questions at a future All Hands meeting and an upcoming Lunch and Learn.
