2018 open enrollment is now closed.
For health benefits, we will again offer the Portico Silver+ (HSA) plan as our preferred option. (Eligible employees may select the Platinum+ or Gold+ options, but must pay the full premium difference.) The Portico Silver+ plan design is unchanged from 2017 and the institution will continue monthly HSA contributions for employees at current levels.
- Portico Silver+ will remain the preferred health plan option, with no change in deductible or co-insurance levels.
- Health Savings Account monthly contributions by Luther Seminary will remain at $50 (single)/$100 (family).
- The employee portion of premiums will increase 5% for 2018. See the attached schedule to determine rate that applies to you.
We are pleased to be able to offer the same health insurance plan – with the same deductibles and same HSA contributions as in 2017 – with a modest increase in premiums. Our partners at Portico have helped us, by holding the base premium increase to 5%. That means Luther Seminary will continue to cover over 91% of employee premiums, which is a higher percentage than the typical church-related college or seminary.
Also on January 1, 2018, we will be processing annual salary adjustments for eligible employees. Staff employees will be eligible for a 2.5% increase; faculty are paid under a different schedule, but the average increase will also equal 2.5%. We will contact you in December with details.
