Update on Chapel Worship and Music Leadership

Posted on June 11, 2024

From Megan Crosby: “After careful deliberation, I have decided not to return to Luther Seminary as the Chapel Musician next fall. I have greatly enjoyed my time working with the students and Pastor Jeni as we planned and led worship. As a musician, I am accustomed to juggling more than one job. Having three jobs, however, was a bit much. All three of my jobs were technically forty hours on paper, but it took a significant amount of my mental capacity and organizational abilities to make it happen. There wasn’t much brain power left to care for myself and my family and the normal stresses of life. In short, I was doing too much and now I’m balancing my life again.”
We give thanks to God for Megan’s faithful work and ministry and her inspiring musicianship that she shared with us in recent years.

Students: Moodle Q&A Opportunities

Posted on June 10, 2024

The Moodle upgrade was a success. We are now running on Moodle version 4.4. For those of you who would like to meet via Zoom and take a look at some of the changes and ask questions, please join Laurel Forsgren (lforsgren001@luthersem.edu) on Tuesday, June 11 for a Moodle Q & A for students —either at 10 a.m. or noon (central) on Zoom. Sign up online and Laurel will send you a calendar invite and zoom link. If you are unable to attend either of these sessions, other opportunities will be available for students during summer and fall semester prep weeks. Many of the new updates are explained in our preview video.

God Problems: Live Theologizing with a Pint

Posted on June 10, 2024

What happens when a philosopher, a theologian, and a Bible scholar ask difficult questions and avoid easy answers? Join us and find out!
– Monday, June 10, 7-9 p.m. Central

Join the Homebrewed Christianity & Emerged podcast for a unique evening (and live recording) of candid theological discussions over a pint. During the show, we will tackle “God problems.” First, we will explore the impact of societial changes on religious practice and the irruption of spiritual curiosity and practice beyond traditional boundaries. Then we will be joined by Hebrew Bible scholar Rolf Jacobson as we examine the vision(s) of God within the Bible and the multiple ways the texts continue to be interpreted today. This event is for anyone interested in theology and wanting to engage in open conversations in a relaxed setting. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and explore theological topics in a casual and welcoming environment.
