Martin Luther King Jr Annual Memorial Chapel Service
You are invited to attend the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Service on Friday, January 10 during worship in the Chapel of the Incarnation. Our preacher will be Rev. Dr. DeWayne L. Davis, lead minister at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis and an alum of Luther Seminary. Dr. Davis will preach on “The Gift of Somebodiness” (Matthew 25:31-40). This year’s theme is Pastoral Care for Socially Marginalized Communities, focusing on Martin Luther King’s leadership in theological education and his efforts to liberate and transform the conditions of oppressed people—ultimately in hopes of creating a “Beloved Community.” As part of the memorial service, Luther Seminary students who are recipients of the Beloved Community Fellowship will share brief insights on what they are learning about MLK’s vision of the Beloved Community and its relevance for the struggle to liberate socially marginalized people. Lunch is provided after the service.
