In this devotion, Shawn Schneider ’23 M.Div., observes that, when Jesus commands us to love one another, he then goes on to fulfill this command for his disciplines and for us. Read today’s God Pause.

Looking for an Online Course This Summer?
Register for CL4560: Money and Mission of the Church! Grace Pomroy’s popular course just moved from RFS to fully online. Choose from an asynchronous or a synchronous section. This course includes a study of biblical texts related to giving and stewardship of resources, the meaning of money, one’s own attitudes regarding money and stewardship, theological foundations for financial stewardship, the importance of pastoral and lay leadership in a congregation’s stewardship ministry, and discussion of practical application to contemporary congregational life and preaching. It will be an engaging and transformative way to spend the summer! Email Grace Pomroy at gpomroy001@luthersem.edu with questions.
Outdoor Game and Fun Night
As we come to the close of another enriching academic year, we are hosting a community gathering to experience a fun day out in the field.
When. May 22, 5–7 p.m.
Where. Murray field (behind Health Partners)
We hope to feature outdoor games of soccer and volleyball. We will have two teams register for three-a-side competitions in the soccer game category and two teams for the volleyball category. Each team is expected to choose the name they will prefer for their team and are welcome to encourage those who will attend to cheer a team as they play. (Meaning, there will be something to do for everyone who shows up). Light refreshment will be provided after the game. Kindly register your team online. And come prepared to win a trophy with your team.
Upcoming Change to Duo Mobile App
As part of our continued efforts to improve account security, the Office of Technology will be disabling support for older Duo Mobile passcode methods on June 1. Specifically, the older HOTP (HMAC-based One-Time Password) passcode method—still available on Duo Mobile versions 4.48 and earlier—is less secure and more vulnerable to malicious activity. These versions will no longer be supported after June 1.
What You Need to Do. If you’re using Duo Mobile version 4.48 or earlier, please update to the latest version before June 1 to avoid disruptions to your Seminary account login. The current version is 4.87.
How to Check Your Version:
- Open the Duo Mobile app.
- Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner.
- Your current app version is listed at the bottom of the sidebar.
Already on version 4.49 or newer? You’re all set! Push notifications and TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) passcodes will continue working as expected. If you have any questions or need help updating your app, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@luthersem.edu.
