Paul Daniels Retirement Shindig

Posted on May 14, 2025

The library staff invites you to join us for a raucous celebration of Paul Daniels’ many years of service as Luther Seminary’s archivist and art collection curator. Paul officially retires at the end of June, and we want to send him off with as much ballyhoo as possible to thank him for gracing us with over 40 years of time, effort, excellence, and thoughtful presence. Expect the usual round of embarrassing accolades—he is a shy Norwegian, after all—along with plenty of festive decorations, balloons, assorted treats and party favors, and a special chocolate cake (involving sprinkles, no doubt). Your presence is requested in the library’s periodicals room on Thursday, May 22, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

We feature classic Christian authors from Dante Alighieri to Frederick Buechner, Flannery O’Connor, and Marilynne Robinson—with her new book “The Beauty of Souls“—and many more. With this guide, you will also find the latest books on art, culture, and film as they relate to Christian faith.
