Upcoming Change to Duo Mobile App
As part of our continued efforts to improve account security, the Office of Technology will be disabling support for older Duo Mobile passcode methods on June 1. Specifically, the older HOTP (HMAC-based One-Time Password) passcode method—still available on Duo Mobile versions 4.48 and earlier—is less secure and more vulnerable to malicious activity. These versions will no longer be supported after June 1.
What You Need to Do. If you’re using Duo Mobile version 4.48 or earlier, please update to the latest version before June 1 to avoid disruptions to your Seminary account login. The current version is 4.87.
How to Check Your Version:
- Open the Duo Mobile app.
- Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner.
- Your current app version is listed at the bottom of the sidebar.
Already on version 4.49 or newer? You’re all set! Push notifications and TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) passcodes will continue working as expected. If you have any questions or need help updating your app, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@luthersem.edu.

Last Day for Campus Clean-Up
Students, staff, and faculty—we would love your help to freshen up the campus before our graduates and their families come to celebrate Baccalaureate on 5/31. Here is when you can help clean up campus this week:
– Thursday, May 29 —anytime you have from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., pizza provided @ 11:45 a.m.
Anyone is invited to join us. Wear comfortable clothes and help us rake and plant some flowers. Facilities will have rakes and gloves (if you can bring some from home, that’s great too).
From Wesley to Willimon: Methodist Theology and Ministry
Methodist theologians and ministers have impacted global Christianity—from John and Charles Wesley in the 18th century to today’s prolific preacher Will Willimon, who will be our guest speaker at Luther Seminary’s Aus Memorial Lecture on June 17. Check out this brief bibliography of Methodist theology and ministry.
Campus Safety Committee Volunteers Needed
Luther Seminary is restarting the Campus Safety Committee. The purpose of the committee is to identify and review plans for maintaining an overall safe environment conducive to living, learning, and working together. The committee will also advise the President’s Office and Enterprise Leadership Team on issues relating to supporting a safe campus environment. The committee will consist of ten members. Four members will represent facilities, marketing and communications, technology, and Title IX. Two members will represent students and student workers. The remaining four members will be employee volunteers. Of the four employee volunteers, at least one should be a faculty member and one should be a staff member. No more than one volunteer can manage other employees. If we have too many volunteers, we will select four randomly from the pool of volunteers. Volunteers will serve a term of one year. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Chris Jacobsen at cjacobsen003@luthersem.edu by end of day on June 6.
