Stories of Sacred Belonging – Community Meal and Lunch Discussion
Following the chapel sermon on the baptism of the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8)—Wednesday, April 24—Cody Sanders will lead us in a discussion over lunch about the multiple ways that “belonging” shows up in the text and in our lives. The event follows chapel on Wednesday and will take place in the main dining room and on Zoom (link in email). Belonging to a faith community promotes multiple forms of health—spiritual, emotional, physical. A recent article in Harvard Public Health even suggests, “Failing to consider religious community in thinking about public health may impede our understanding of the health of populations.” Yet we know that many benefits of religious belonging are unevenly distributed across populations, and belonging is often shaped by our embodiments of human difference. We will explore together how we can attend to practices that cultivate and sustain belonging—to God, to one another, and to the earth. All are invited to join. Lunch will be provided.
