Join Professor Thomason today—Thursday, June 27—at 11:00am CST. Sometimes there are no words for what and how we need to pray. Paul tells us in Romans that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in groans that we cannot understand. Join this livestream as we conclude our June Journey in the Art of Prayer by exploring how contemplative art can be an excellent form of prayer beyond words. Learn more on the Art of Prayer page and join the session live on YouTube.

Living the Story: Moving from Membership to Discipleship
Ever wonder how you can help your congregation or faith community foster a culture of discipleship—where faith is an active, daily part of life for everyone? Join Dwight Zscheile, vice president of innovation and professor of Congregational Mission and Leadership, on June 27 for a 90-minute live workshop on spiritual practices that can begin to shift a church’s culture from membership to discipleship. Together, we’ll share ideas on finding those deeper connections through spiritual practices and spotting these opportunities naturally within our faith communities. We’ll talk about how we can engage our community for deep-rooted change that fosters discipleship. Luther students can access the workshop (and many other resources) free of charge until September.
Reimbursements/Invoices for Spiritual Care
Students—we are reaching the end of the fiscal year and need your FY23-24 payment receipts or invoices from your spiritual directors as soon as possible. Sessions must have occurred between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. The forms should be submitted by July 1, 2024. If you cannot access the form, email Bobbie Dale, rdale001@luthersem.edu, with your name, student ID number, address for payment, and receipts/invoices.
Update: Seminary Building Access
The Brivo installation process has gone more slowly than our contractor planned, but they are aiming to have all of the new locks and card readers installed by the end of this week. Once locks and readers are installed, the next step is to install and configure the video intercom system that will allow us to implement our visitor policy when buildings are locked during operating hours. We expect the intercoms to be operational in early July and will notify the campus community when we are ready to move to a locked campus.
God Pause for June 26: 2 Corinthians 8
In this devotion, George Knudson ’79 M.Div., observes how simple acts of service are also acts of hospitality toward all who would hear the good news. Read today’s God Pause.
Care Packages for Summer Outdoor Ministry Staff
Students, staff, faculty, and friends—Are you going to camp this summer? Are you connected to an outdoor ministry? Do you have a friend, congregation member, or loved one working at camp this summer? If so, we need your help. The admissions office is sending care packages to camp and outdoor ministry staff this summer. How does it work? A camp staff member would pick up a Luther Seminary postcard from a camp colleague—or receive one directly from you—fill in their name and camp location, and mail it back to us by August 5. We would then send them a small care package of treats and a vocational discernment devotional. Request postcards for your camp or a specific camp staff member today. Luther Seminary is grateful for the outdoor ministry staff who will help kids and youth with faith formation this summer. Thank you for your help in this recruitment work. Questions? Reach out to Jen Gruendler, jgruendler001@luthersem.edu.
