New Printers Coming to Luther Seminary Campus

Posted on August 23, 2024

We will be replacing all leased printers on campus later in August. Leased printers are primarily those found in public areas, though a few might be in individual office spaces. Our current printers are Canon, and the new printers that will be installed are Sharp. The Sharp replacements are similar models and have similar features to what we are currently using. The newer equipment should function better. We anticipate that we will not have to install new driver software on any individual computers on campus. Installing the new printers will happen over a period of several days:

  • Gullixson Hall + Bockman Hall — Wednesday, August 21
  • Olson Campus Center — Friday, August 23

For each printer location, there will be a brief period of down time when the old one has been removed and the new one is still being installed. After installation, the process of using Follow Me to send a job from a computer and then go to any printer to print will remain the same. And your current ID card will work on the new devices just as they do on current printers. Our maintenance contract and service will stay the same. Please continue to report printer problems as you do now—via the help desk ticketing system, helpdesk@luthersem.edu. One advantage to our new vendor is that Augsburg University also uses this vendor and Sharp equipment, so our OT staff are already familiar with the equipment. That said, our OT staff is engaging in additional training in anticipation of these updates. And as always, they are happy to meet with you for additional support once the new printers have been installed. Thank you for your patience with and support of this process.

Admissions Office Limited Availability August 26-30

Posted on August 22, 2024

Admissions Team staff members will be taking several individual and overlapping days off between August 26-30 and will have limited time in the office and low access to email and in-person assistance during that week. During the following week of September 3-6, the Admissions Team will be working from home due to high-noise construction in the Olson Campus Center scheduled for the same week but will plan to attend already-scheduled in-person meetings. Thank you for your patience and advanced notice of your needs as we take vacation time and navigate building construction. Questions? Email Jessi at jleclearvachta002@luthersem.edu.

OCC Repairs Weekly Update: August 19-23

Posted on August 21, 2024

The major repair project to the area around the west entrance of Olson Campus Center began last week. Our partners at G5 moved equipment into the building, installed temporary enclosures, and prepared other aspects of the project. This week they began several significant tasks:

  • Removing masonry and windows prior to ramp demolition
  • Removing masonry in the tunnel to expose damaged support beams
  • Testing brick and masonry replacement to ensure color matching for replaced brick

This week includes work that is at times noisy and will produce some dust. We appreciate your patience and flexibility in utilizing (or not) the areas of OCC not directly related to the construction work.

For reminders about safety, project impacts, and communication, see my introductory message about the project.

As always, thank you for your support of our operations team and their work,
Rob Verke
Director of Operations
Luther Seminary
