Students interested in such internships apply through the ELCA, with assistance and oversight provided by Contextual Learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attend Internship information sessions in the Fall semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm your eligibility (see below).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the ELCA: Please complete all International Horizon application components (see below). You are responsible for sending the application components directly to the ELCA mailing address listed below. Make sure to send a copy of those documents to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:contextuallearning@luthersem.edu\">contextuallearning@luthersem.edu<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>October 31<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the meantime, complete the online\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1-MTJ-LAqHcJOdkJ0Ac3p635D6q5OKEwU\">Luther Seminary Internship Application<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the two applications are complete, selected candidates will be invited to interview with the ELCA Global Mission staff in Chicago, who will manage your application materials and interview results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Placement decisions will be announced by the Global Mission staff prior to Luther Seminary\u2019s Internship placement process in\u00a0<strong>March<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completion of a basic unit of CPE.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receipt of written approval by candidacy committee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No children or pets, although students may be either single or married.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application components<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>(All forms available on the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elca.org\/Our-Work\/Global-Mission\/Global-Service\/Interns\">&nbsp;ELCA website<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elca.org\/Our-Work\/Global-Mission\/Global-Service\/Interns\">\u00a0International Horizon Internship application form<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of the candidate&#8217;s final CPE supervisor&#8217;s evaluation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three assessments, to be sent directly to ELCA Global Mission, by the required references: the student\u2019s Candidacy Committee, a Luther Seminary professor, and the student\u2019s CPE supervisor or Teaching Congregations mentor pastor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>International Horizon application components should be sent to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ELCA Global Mission<br>Horizon Internship Application<br>8765 West Higgins Road<br>Chicago, IL 60631<br><a href=\"mailto:globalserve@elca.org\">globalserve@elca.org<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send copies of all materials to Luther Seminary\u2019s Contextual Learning office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each year the Global Mission unit of the ELCA chooses students from the eight seminaries to participate in international ministries through the&nbsp;International Horizon Internship Program.
