Death of Professor Emeritus Roy Harrisville
Roy Harrisville (‘47), Professor Emeritus of New Testament, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Lyngblomsten Care Center. He was 101. Roy taught New Testament at Luther Seminary from 1958-1992. He was instrumental in combining historical-critical research with a confessional-theological approach. Many of his students have recalled the Friday afternoon teas that he and his wife Norma would regularly host for students. He is mourned by four children, many grandchildren, and many former students. “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Visitation: Wednesday, August 2nd from 4-7 PM at Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home, 536 N. Snelling Ave., St. Paul.
Funeral Service: 11 AM Thursday, Aug. 3rd (visitation 10-11 AM) at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave., S., Mpls. Interment Lakewood Cemetery.
