Drawing the Bible with Steve Thomason
Join Professor Thomason for a livestream on YouTube at 2 p.m. CT where he will be drawing through the book of Acts. This livestream art session is part of Professor Thomason’s ongoing research in using new media to both engage people and share the ongoing work of Faith+Lead. He is currently illustrating the book of Acts as a graphic novel to be used in the upcoming Faith+Lead Academy course. If you want to spend some time enjoying chill music, watching art being created in real time, and communicate with the artist via the chat, join us. The recording of the session will also be available to watch at any time on YouTube. https://youtube.com/live/MiHBQ57I8QU?feature=share
Food Shelf Summer Experiment
Attention students who use the food shelf!
For the next four weeks, we are trying a new system for the food shelf. We are trying to steward our resources better while still providing supplemental food for our students who need it.
Instead of everyone having a unique order, we are going to order food in bulk and offer you three different bag types: a meat bag, a produce bag, and a grain and other bag. Please use this form to say which bags you would like. A description of what is in each bag is at the top of the question. You can choose one, two, or all three bags. If there is food that you would not use, we invite you to share it with your community to those who may be able to use it. We are also offering milk and eggs every week. There is also a question for other food and grocery items you may need. We may not be able to get those items, but it does help us to know what is needed for future weeks.
We are also asking for folks to volunteer to help organize these bags. Because we are ordering in bulk, there will be more work needed to separate food items and we currently do not have the capacity to do all of that work. It also is an opportunity for you to help keep this necessary service going, even on weeks when we do not have the staffing to do so. We will train you on how to do so when you come to a shift. We know that the time will not work for everyone, but we are asking everyone to do what they can. You are able to let us know when you are free with the last question on the google form. We will be preparing the food in the community kitchen in the basement of Bockman.
Finally, please bring back both bags and egg cartons that you have used. The eggs are coming in a large container and we need the smaller ones to divide them out to you all.
Timeline:
This week (July 17th- 21st) use the old system.
Next week (July 24th- 28th) use the new system!
Please fill out the form by Wednesday July 26th. This will replace the old system for the next four weeks (week of July 24th, July 31st , and August 7th) Forms are due on Wednesday and food can be picked up Friday of each week.
You will be able to pick up your food bags from the community kitchen in the basement of Bockman. We will email you when the bags are ready to be picked up. Your names will be on the bags.
