Luther Seminary has contracted Advanced Masonry Restoration, a reputable local company with more than 25 years of experience, for an exterior facade improvement project of Gullixson Hall. The project will begin Monday, June 26, and is expected to be complete by Friday, September 8. The project will include cleaning the entire facade, window sealant replacement, stone repair or replacement as needed, and approximately 5% repointing. This work will help maintain the health of Gullixson Hall and prevent water damage. The project team will work Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
Advanced Masonry Restoration will use the parking lot between Bockman Hall and Olson Campus Center to stage their project, which will reduce some parking for faculty, staff, and students. Parking will remain available on the east side of Fulham Street and in the OCC lot. The parking lot shared by Luther Seminary and Zvago off Luther Place will not be impacted.
Gullixson Hall and the Library will remain open for the duration of the project. The cleaning and repointing process can be disruptive. Common sounds during the project will come from gas-powered pressure washers and hand power tools for sealant and motor removal, which may resemble vibration sounds inside the building. Advanced Masonry Restoration’s methods capture more than 90% of dust produced. In order to mitigate disruption, debris, and noise, Advanced Masonry Restoration will begin the project on the west side of the building and work their way around the exterior in a counterclockwise fashion. Faculty and staff who office in Gullixson Hall may experience intermittent noise disruption. If that occurs, employees are encouraged to work with their supervisors to determine a temporary work-from-home schedule.
We are grateful for your patience. Please direct any questions about this project to Heidi Droegemueller at hdroegemuelller001@luthersem.edu or extension 528.
