On April 8, 1923, four Norwegian-American missionaries from the Midwest and Brooklyn first set foot in Douala, Cameroon. Luther Seminary had a major role to play in the mission they established. Today, 100 years later, the two Lutheran World Federation churches that resulted, in Central African Republic and Cameroon, number upwards of a half million members. Bishop Eaton of the USA and Bishop Baïguele of Cameroon will be present here on July 8th for the centennial celebration. Online registration for the event is happening at sdsynod.org/synod-events/missioncentennial2023/.
