Join us the rest of the week for the Eco-Faith Stuff Exchange!

When: 1st Winterm RFS: January 9–13

Where: All week, open all day in OCC – tables in the “triangle area” in the upper part of OCC, across from the Cafe

What: Everyone is invited to participate in the Stuff Exchange! Simply bring gently used items to contribute if you have them (no contribution necessary to take items home) and take home items that you would use. It will be our own thrift shop. Let’s exchange to prevent unnecessary purchases and waste. Distributed Learning students – pack something to exchange if you have room! Bags to carry items home will be provided.

Items for the Stuff Exchange may include: clothing, books, small appliances, picture frames, video games, instruments–whatever! Please make sure items are clean (please wash before bringing clothes) and usable. Please no swimwear or undergarments. Leftover items will be donated Friday night after the RFS. 

Please bring your own coffee mug if you can! Compostable cups, utensils, and plates will be provided.

New year, new intention: bring reusable silverware to lunch! Pick up your very own set of versatile recycled plastic utensils at the next community meal. Keep them with you for food on campus in an effort to cut down on waste and promote our love for Luther Seminary! Limit one per person.

With increased numbers on campus over the Intensive, overflow parking has been cleared in the lot between Stub and Northwestern Hall. Please adhere to any parking signs currently in place and familiarize yourself with the city of St. Paul snow emergency parking rules. Check out this link for a map to the main parking options on campus.

Get your singing voices ready! The Luther Seminary community is invited to “Hymntap at the Dubliner” with the Fleshpots of Egypt, Monday 6:30-8:30 p.m., featuring our own Dr. Rolf A. Jacobson! Hymntap is a hymn sing in a secular setting—an Irish-American pub, the Dubliner (corner of University and Vandalia). Some call this “beer and hymns.” Students Services will be providing pizza from Toppers for those who prefer “pizza and hymns.” (Gluten free and vegan options are available!) 

The music is okay, the singing is better, and the fellowship is the best.

Come to Stout’s Pub on Thursday January 19 at 6 p.m. for a night of good discussion with fellow students, staff, and faculty! Professor Kristofer Phan Coffman will lead us in conversation about Adventures in (Mis)Translation, so you know that this will be a fun one! Appetizers will be on us! Please use this link to sign up and indicate your carpool needs/abilities. 

Note: You do not have to RSVP in order to come. This just helps us get a headcount and sort out carpooling.

Students – If you have not yet completed your boundary workshop requirement you can register here for the hybrid Part I of the Boundary Workshop Training* on Wednesday, January 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. CST.

*This academic year, the Healthy Boundaries Workshop is divided into two parts. Part I is a synchronous training (in person or on Zoom – format indicated in registration form) and Part II is an asynchronous training completed in a Moodle course. Completion of BOTH Part I and Part II are required in order to fulfill the Boundary Workshop requirement.
