Dear Luther Community,
In April 2021, we began sharing with the community a document that framed our DEI work, naming it as ABIDE. The document’s authors, Matt Skinner, Lois Malcom, Ken Reynhout, and Mark Tranvik produced what later became known as the ABIDE document and this was shared across our community.
We are now preparing to get the ABIDE document approved as an institutional document.
Several departments have already provided feedback and we want to invite you to community-wide feedback sessions. These will be on-line gatherings via Zoom.
We are hoping to present this to the board at the May board meeting. Once the communication process has been concluded, the original authors of the document will amend it and prepare it for presentation to the board. Our aim, ultimately, is to steer a process that will culminate in the board’s review and approval for use of the ABIDE document as an institutional document.
We have allowed for two dates and you can attend either one (or both). These will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 10am-11am (facilitated by Dr. Lois Malcolm and Dr. Leon Rodrigues) and on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 1pm-2pm (facilitators Dr. Ken Reynhout and Dr. Lois Malcolm.)
