Do-It-Yourself Nativity and Library Holiday Open House
Please join us in the Luther Library for a holiday open house, Wednesday, December 14, from 10 a.m. to noon; there will be snacks and holiday cheer for all and sundry. As a special treat, The Luther Seminary Players will present a light-hearted retelling of the Christmas story; think of it as an homage to those church Christmas pageants of old with shepherds wearing bathrobes and angels with halos askew. This is an audience participation event so we encourage as many as are able to attend—remember, the more the merrier—the program will start around 10:45 a.m.
Welcome Matt Schutz, New Seminary Controller
Please welcome Matt Schutz, who begins work today as the full-time controller for Luther Seminary. In that role, he will serve as the chief accountant for the Seminary and manage the Business Office. He will report to Michael Morrow for now and subsequently to John Coskran, who will become the VP of Finance on a shared services basis with Augsburg University in 2023.
Matt has a strong background in accounting and finance. He has higher education and non-profit experience with prior roles at M Health Fairview and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is also a CPA and was on the Baker Tilly team that audited Luther Seminary in 2016 and 2017.
Matt will be aided in getting up to speed by Gerri Stepanek. As announced previously, Gerri will become the full-time controller at Augsburg. This change will be effective on January 1, 2023.
Matt’s office is Bockman 205. Please stop by and introduce yourself.
