TODAY: RFS Happy Hour and Hymn Sing (Location Change)
If you missed us at the Hymntap, that is ok! We are doing round two here on campus. Join us today, September 22, from 4:30-5:30 for the RFS Happy Hour and Hymn Sing on the steps/lawn of Bockman. Beer, wine, and non alcoholic drinks are provided by Bubbly Loon, food is provided by La Tapatia, and music is by Hans Lundquist and friends. Come on by for music, drinks, food, and fun.
Book Giveaway September 23
On September 23 after chapel in OCC, retired pastor Chris Miller will be here to give away books to aid in preaching at end of life situations. He will have a table set up outside of chapel. Come on by to get some books to aid in your ministry.
Retired pastor Chris Miller and 14 other clergy (active and retired), along with seven lay people, have contributed Funeral Sermons, Tributes, and Stories to give new pastors confidence in preaching to the family, your church members and your community at this special time—at the end-of-a-life. Hearts are open in unique ways to hear the Gospel, give thanks for a life shared, and acknowledge the reality of death in our lives. You want to be the preacher who addresses those needs and opportunities … with examples that have served these clergy in common or special, tragic or non-traditional cases. They offer a template to guide in your prayerful preparations.
Two Books:
“It Takes All Kinds to be in The Great Cloud of Witnesses” (Free)
“Saints I Have Known and Buried” (Seminarian Discount: 25% = $15)
Rural Ministry Lunch —Friday, September 23 (OCC)
If you are interested in or curious about small town and rural (STaR) ministry, you are invited to join us at a table in the Dining Hall in the Olson Community Center on Friday Sept. 23 from 11:30 to 12:15. We will have a sign on our table to help you find us.
