Professor Dirk Lang, currently on leave to serve the work of the Lutheran World Federation as deputy general secretary for ecumenical affairs in Geneva, Switzerland, shared the following sad family news:

“Dirk and Ilona’s son, Julien, passed away last week. Julien suffered from severe cerebral palsy since birth. We pray God send comfort for the whole family and to embrace them gently with peace. The funeral will take place sometime this summer in Winnipeg, Canada.”

One way the Luther Seminary Community can surround the family in addition to prayer, is to send a card or note to them at their home in Geneva:

If anyone would like to make a memorial contribution, the family is asking that it be in memory of Julien Lange to the special care home, St. Amant (Winnipeg), that cared for Julien in such an extraordinary way.

Requiescat in Pace

As part of our regular maintenance cycle, Moodle will be rebooted early Sunday morning, July 3, around 7 a.m. We anticipate an interruption of service of no longer than thirty minutes.

Each degree-seeking student may request reimbursement towards payment of a licensed counselor and/or spiritual director for up to $300 per academic year. When you have receipts, please submit them in a timely manner through this form.

The Gullixson parking lot (off Luther Place, shared with Zvago) will be closed for repairs from 10 a.m. until approximately noon this Friday, July 1. The lot will reopen when repairs are complete. The Olson/Bockman lot (off Fulham) will be open.

Luther Seminary is closed on July 4. The community announcements email will not be sent out that day.
