Beyoncé Mass
Luther Seminary and United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, along with other area partners, are helping to bring the Beyoncé Mass to the Twin Cities. Beyoncé Mass is a womanist worship service that uses the music and personal life of Beyoncé as a tool to foster an empowering conversation about Black women—their lives, their bodies, and their voices.
Curated by Yolanda Norton, the H. Eugene Farlough Chair of Black Church Studies at San Francisco Theological Seminary, this groundbreaking spiritual experience has gathered thousands of people at worship services from Southern California to Portugal. The service starts at 7 p.m. May 13 in the parking lot at Plymouth Congregational Church in South Minneapolis (1900 Nicollet Ave. S.). For more information, please email David Scherer (dscherer002@luthersem.edu).
