Chapel Podcast: The Liturgy of the Hours

Posted on February 9, 2021

We are rounding out Ordinary Time, the season between Epiphany and Ash Wednesday. It goes out with a bang, or at least a great light: Transfiguration, when Jesus became dazzling light atop a mountain. Rounding out Season Four of the Liturgy of the Hours is Nate Crary and Luther Seminary Student Sarah Hanson. Listen on the episode page or wherever you get your podcasts.

Thanks for tuning in. We will return next week with Season Five and Lent. We will offer Compline, prayer for the Night Time.

Office of Technology Seeking Feedback

Posted on February 9, 2021

We’ve opened our annual feedback survey. We’ve added a question or two about our pandemic response this past year and removed the classroom questions. It’s a little shorter than it has been, which means less time to complete for you.

We do appreciate your feedback. This helps us benchmark year-to-year what your experience has been with our services and support.

Please use this link to complete the survey. The last chance to submit feedback is Friday, February 12.

In addition to filling out the survey, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in a listening session, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Central Tuesday, February 9. To participate, please use this registration form.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Global Protect VPN Users: Multi-Factor Authentication Coming March 1

Posted on February 9, 2021

Luther Seminary is improving account security by implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA). This security enhancement has been on our roadmap to implement, but is recently being pushed to the forefront as a requirement of our cybersecurity insurance renewal. MFA relies on two forms of authentication: something you know and something you have with you. The something you know is your password. The something you have with you is typically a mobile device (smart phone) to approve authentication requests. This means that even if your password is hacked, your account will remain secure. At this time, only Global Protect VPN users will be required to use MFA. More details will be provided in the coming weeks. Learn more at the Office of Technology’s multi-factor authentication page.

Luther Seminary Launches Seeds Project Fellowship With Grant Support From Trinity Church Wall Street

Posted on February 9, 2021

Luther Seminary recently received a $150,000 grant from Trinity Church Wall Street in support of the Seeds Project Fellowship. The Seeds Project seeks to empower Christian innovators who are focused on helping spiritual seekers and disciples of Jesus discover the difference Jesus makes in everyday life.

Through a competitive application process, two cohorts of twelve fellows each have been formed for 2021. The fellows represent a highly diverse mix of ministry contexts, identities, and church traditions. You can learn more about them in the Seeds Project Fellowship 2021 document. They will connect regularly through the year for shared learning, mutual support, and coaching. Each fellow receives a $10,000 stipend. The seminary will share what the Seeds Project Fellows learn through Faith+Lead and a forthcoming Seeds online platform.

Trinity Church, an Episcopal parish in New York City, chose to support the project as part of its commitment to leadership development. In addition to the grant from Trinity, the Seeds Project has been funded by individual donors. Questions? Contact Michael Binder, Michael Chan, or Dwight Zscheile.
