In this new year, we continue down some paths already paved. Despite the disruptions of 2020, the MDivX pilot program has welcomed its second cohort and is preparing to receive the third. When the MDivX accelerated program was initiated in 2018, it was organized under the oversight of the vice president of innovation as an experiment to inform the academic program at Luther Seminary. With the pilot program now well established and functioning effectively at the midpoint of its lifecycle, the time has come to shift oversight fully to the vice president of academic affairs/academic dean.
As this was always the intention, this will not significantly shift how the program is functioning. The vice president of innovation will continue to serve on the MDivX Guiding Team and provide ongoing support to the pilot program in collaboration with the vice president of academic affairs/academic dean. The director of the MDivX Program will continue to serve on the Innovation Leadership Team. The vice president of academic affairs/academic dean is currently leading a process of gathering learnings so far that will guide future decisions about this experiment’s impact on Luther’s curriculum, pedagogy, and programs going forward.
