With the holidays approaching, avoid the gift of phishing

Posted on December 3, 2020

Several folks have let us know that they’ve received a phishing email from someone pretending to be a member of the seminary community. They’ve also noticed that the email address was not a luthersem.edu email address (though it was close). Thanks for the keen eyes!

Mostly Google has put these fake address emails into the spam folder, which is great. If you are looking in your spam folder, keep in mind these sorts of emails can be in there. And if a phishing email does land in your inbox, you can click the “spam” button to help train the Google spam filter.

The OT Information Security Program website has some phishing blog posts and a red flags tip sheet.
