Beloved Community Scholars virtual lunch
The Beloved Community Scholars are hosting their first virtual lunch at 12 p.m. Central Wednesday, October 28. The Zoom link will be provided in the community announcements email.
Our special guest will be Sister Teresa Ann Wolf. Sister Teresa Ann is a Benedictine sister from Mother of God Monastery in Watertown, South Dakota. She is the director of the Glacial Lakes Multicultural Center, also in Watertown. She has a doctorate in cross cultural pastoral theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and an M.A. in religious education from St. Meinrad School of Theology in Indiana.
Sister Teresa Ann has lived and worked with Native Americans on Standing Rock Reservation at Fort Yates, North Dakota; the Papago Reservation in southwestern Arizona; indigenous groups in Guatemala; campesinos in northern Peru; and with migrants, immigrants, refugees, and Hispanics in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, and South Dakota.
She is also passionate about stopping human trafficking, especially the high rate of sex trafficking in South Dakota. She will go anywhere and talk to anyone about human trafficking, the purpose of which is to educate individuals and communities about sex trafficking : what it is, how to recognize the signs, and how to report it. A recent project is a minidocumentary about the sex trafficking of Native girls and women, “Reach to End Sex Trafficking in Native American Communities.” For more info, contact David Scherer dscherer002@luthersem.edu.
Nominate a charity
Thank you for helping to shape the future offerings of the Stewardship Leaders Program. In gratitude, we will donate $10 for every Financial Wellness survey completed to a charity selected by the students of Luther Seminary. We have $1,780 to donate. Thank you!
All Luther students are invited to nominate a charity to receive the money. Please nominate your charity by Friday, October 30. We will compile a list and invite students to vote for their favorite charity during the week of November 2.
Please use this nomination form.
Note: Charitable organizations nominated must align with the mission, vision, and values of the seminary.
