A Building an Inclusive Church (BIC) training helps you design and implement a journey for your faith community to publicly and intentionally welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. Building an Inclusive Church equips you with ways to create dialogue, deepening relationships throughout your faith community rather than sparking debate and division.

You will have opportunities to engage through a mix of presentations, hands-on practice, and small group discussions. Many of the tools you will learn come from faith-based relational organizing. Grounded in scripture and discipleship, this training allows you to explore your own Christian call to hospitality and evangelism. The training is centered on the Building an Inclusive Church Toolkit and includes the tools of Graceful Engagement, the One-to-One Visit, Setting the Frame, Strategic Storytelling, Scriptural Engagement, and Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression.

This workshop is open to both residential and distributed learners, as well as the general public. The cost for Luther Seminary students is only $35.00. Students, please register at the following link:

The event takes place from 5:30 pm – 9 pm on Friday, February 28; 9 am – 5 pm on Saturday, February 29, located in the Olson Campus Center (OCC) Room 10 both days.

*Requests that come in while the student council is not in regular session will be handled by the newly elected Executive Committee.

Using this timeline allows Student Council two days to review your request before the meeting. And it allows the requester seven days after Student Council has made a decision to be able to adjust as necessary.

If you are a faculty or staff member who does data collection, surveys, or assessments as part of your role, consider making the switch from SurveyMonkey to Qualtrics. 

Luther Seminary has Qualtrics licenses for data collection and analysis. You’re invited to attend the Qualtrics user group meeting on the first Thursday of each month. Bring your lunch, your questions, and your current data projects. All are welcome; this is a great way to learn about this tool and see how you might use it in your work.
