Forming faith in today’s digital age has both challenges and opportunities. Given the speed of change and the pace of life, most congregational leaders are navigating these challenges and opportunities without pausing to reflect on how our digital practices can intersect with our faith tradition and theological commitments. Rabbi Jeffrey Schein, author, scholar, and consultant, has spent decades engaging Jewish communities in cultivating faithful religious education. For the past several years, he has been studying the intersection of digital technology and Judaism. He has published his current learnings in his new book, Text Me: Ancient Jewish Wisdom meets Contemporary Technology. Written with a practical bend, Schein offers perspective, balance, and self-awareness on this complex and vitally important conversation. Seeing his learnings as part of a larger conversation, he has included Jewish, Christian, and Muslim conversation partners in his book, as well as created an accompanying website.
Dr. Mary Hess and Dr. Terri Elton had the privilege of contributing to this project and have invited Dr. Schein to Luther Seminary to discuss his learnings with Christian leaders.
