Why Jesus ? A Spiritual Formation Experiment

Welcome to our new students and new faculty and staff who are recently onboard with Luther Seminary! Welcome back to our returning students!

Thursday Sept 19th after chapel is the first session of Why Jesus? It is our community’s experiment on spiritual formation and story sharing. This event is supported by Aus Memorial Lecture on Evangelism and Spirit Lab. To start off the session, President Robin Steinke will share her story of faith and answering these two key questions: Why are you a Christian? What difference does Jesus make in your life?

Come and join us in Dining Room C from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Soup and bread will be provided.

*Not on campus? The faith stories will be posted in a Special Moodle module where the presenter and other faculty and student hosts will engage in ongoing conversations and story sharing.

Maintenance/Construction Update: Week of September 16

Safety concerns should be sent to maintenance@luthersem.edu. When your concern is not immediately dangerous, the concern will be addressed at the next Safety Committee meeting.

Olson Campus Center –

  • Clean out of compactor/grease trap area
  • Repair Rm. 8
  • Repairs to general kitchen exhaust system
  • Work Requests as time allows

Gullixson Hall –

  • 3rdQuarter mechanical maintenance
  • Remodeling lounge kitchen
  • Repurposing Stacks 1 & 2 for Archive storage
  • Manage recycling needs
  • Lighting project in south and center stairwells- HOLD
  • Work Requests as time allows

Bockman Hall –

  • 3rdQuarter mechanical maintenance
  • Boiler repairs/Inspections
  • Repair and update lighting for 2ndfloor rooms
  • Wall/ceiling repairs and painting of second floor
  • General repairs and updates
  • Repairing specific steps and sidewalks
  • Work Requests as time allows

Northwestern Hall –

  • 3rdQuarter mechanical maintenance
  • Repairs as requested

Stub Hall –

  • 3rdQuarter mechanical maintenance
  • Boiler repairs/Inspection
  • Maintaining for current residents
  • Individual room maintenance after Intensives
  • Work Requests as time allows

LDR –

  • Manage remaining move-in
  • Work Requests as time allows

Rental Home –

  • Ready Houses (1)
  • Convert one house to pilot for short-term living
  • Work Requests as time allows

General Grounds –

  • Mowing/Leaf pick-up
  • Repairing specific steps and sidewalks
  • General pick-up after wind/rain storms
