Are you curious about what nonviolence can mean in Christian community? Do you wonder about constructive ways to engage public conflict? Have you found yourself drawn to nonviolent civil protests?
INVITE is a group that was begun as a student, faculty, staff, alumni and public movement in the spring of 2004. In the last few years it has lain somewhat dormant, but we are reviving it this fall. Join us on Wednesdays after chapel–either in person or through zoom–to explore how nonviolence can be understood as a core Christian practice.
On September 11th anyone interested in helping to organize will meet to continue planning in OCC10 and over Zoom; our first regular meeting will be Wednesday, September 18th at 11:45 central time in OCC213 and Zoom. We’ll hear from Luther’s Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusions , Dr. Leon Rodrigues, as to his experience with Christians and nonviolence in South Africa.
Bring your lunch, or log into your computer, and join us! If you are interested and would like to stay in the loop, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/pN7pvWsxPDhvToaR7
You can also email Dr. Mary Hess, who will be our on campus contact.
