Today through Friday, February 1, our area is forecast to have cold weather and low wind chill factors. Please be very aware of your surroundings and how you dress for the-weather during this time.
Keep thermostats set above 70 degrees at all times. Although wind-chill does not affect non-living tissue, wind does remove heat from all our buildings at a faster rate therefore it lowers internal temperatures faster.
Dress in layers. If you are dressed in layers, going outside will be safe during this time. Layers of clothing will work as insulation for your skin and keep your body heat in. Protecting your face is always a challenge; therefore, wear a hat and bring your scarf up under your eyes. This will create just enough of an air layer to keep your eyes protected. If you have glasses or sun glasses wear them while outside.
If you are driving somewhere keep the following in your car:
blanket
fully charged phone
two energy bars
Thermo-cup of drinking water – large
Tell someone where you are going and when to expect you’ll return
Do not jeopardize your safety by underestimating the danger of these sub-zero temperatures.
