Maintenance/Construction Update: Week of January 28

Safety concerns should be sent to maintenance@luthersem.edu. When your concern is not immediately dangerous, the concern will be addressed at the next Safety Committee meeting.

Olson Campus Center –

  • Cleaning-out storage areas/empty areas
  • Building System Automation updates – no noise
  • Work Requests as time allows

Gullixson Hall –

  • Cleaning out storage areas/empty areas
  • Addressing recycling issues
  • Work Requests as time allows

Bockman Hall –

  • Cleaning out storage areas/empty areas
  • Resetting third floor after Intensives
  • Work Requests as time allows

Northwestern Hall –

  • Cleaning out storage areas
  • Remodel in 140 suite
  • Office moves (3)
  • Repairs as requested

Stub Hall –

  • Cleaning out storage areas
  • Individual room maintenance
  • Work Requests as time allows

LDR –

  • Work Requests as time allows

Rental Home –

  • Work Requests as time allows
  • Preparing houses (1)

General Grounds –

  • Snow/ice removal
  • Tree Trimming throughout campus
  • Zvago project continues at Luther Place entrance – no parking will be available in the Luther Place lot

Katherine Parent’s PhD Oral Defense

Katherine Parent, Ph.D. Candidate in History of Christianity, will defend her dissertation, “Claiming Colonialism: White Lutherans and Racism in Minnesota, 1850-1960”. Thesis adviser is Mark Granquist. Thesis readers are Mary Hess, Mary Jane Haemig and Okogyeamon (Herbert) Perkins.

Schedule: 

Monday, February 4 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Northwestern Hall 100

What is a Ph.D. oral defense? The oral defense is the final step before graduation for Ph.D. degree candidates. The student has finished all research and is presenting a thesis that is an original contribution to the field of scholarship. A copy of the completed thesis is available prior to the defenses for those in the Luther Seminary community:

The oral examination is a public event open to faculty, students, staff and guests; however, other than the candidate, only faculty members have speaking privileges.

Parking Alert January 30-31

We are once again asking your help in welcoming guests to campus and providing parking. Starting Wednesday morning the OCC and Bockman parking lots will be reserved for Mid-Winter Convocation in OCC. All other campus lots will be open and available to everyone.
