Endowment Lab Grants Announced

Posted on December 6, 2018

The Money and Mission of the Church class is pleased to announce two recipients of this year’s Endowment Laboratory: $5,000 for a proposal from the Office of Student Affairs to support student funding for off-campus conferences, events, and programs, and $2000 to a project titled, “Month of Movies: Black and White,” films that highlight race, justice, culture, and U.S. history, submitted by Dr. Amy Marga.

Both programs are intended to benefit the entire Luther community in alignment with the mission statement the class wrote earlier this semester with the help of Chris Anderson, President and CEO of InFaith Community Foundation, our partner in the lab:

Inspired by the teachings of Christ, the Luther Seminary Endowment Lab supports leadership, innovation, and empowerment through strategies that encourage new communities and transform existing communities as they seek to bring hope, stability, and long-term impact to all of their members.

The class received seven completed applications that, together, requested funding for more than $90,000 worth of projects. We express deep thanks to all who sent in proposals, which generated lengthy and passionate deliberations. Our only regret is that we couldn’t fund more!

And yet, we can–after a time, at least. It’s not too early to beginning thinking about grant proposals for the next Endowment Lab, likely part of Money and Mission of the Church during the next academic year.

Questions? Contact: Adam Copeland, Director of the Center for Stewardship Leaders, acopeland001@luthersem.edu and/or a student in the Money and Mission of the Church course.
