Starting Thursday, December 6 and continuing through Friday, December 7 there will be core drilling happening on campus. This work is part of the planning process for our campus of the future renovations to Olson Campus Center, Gullixson Hall and the rest of the upper campus.

Drilling will occur in 16 different spots on campus, each one taking 45 minutes from equipment set-up to completion. Of that time 3 to 5 minutes will be hammering; drilling will take 8 to 15 minutes dependent on the required depth. We have worked with the contractor to time their work around chapel, scheduled classes and scheduled meetings. However, weather and equipment are not always manageable on a schedule. We will all do our best not to disrupt your classes and meetings.

Safety concerns should be sent to maintenance@luthersem.edu. When your concern is not immediately dangerous, the concern will be addressed at the next Safety Committee meeting.

Faculty and staff are invited to a shared learning time led by the Innovation Leadership Team on Wednesday, December 5 from 1:30-3:00 pm in OCC 10. The focus will be around how we can use innovation methods in our daily work to address dilemmas we’re facing. Two case studies will be offered by our faculty and staff colleagues of using design thinking to solve challenges in their work. Everyone will then have time to map out how innovation methods can help each of us to solve challenges we are facing in our areas.

To celebrate this season of Advent, in addition to our weekly holy communion services, there will be two Holden Evening Prayer services on December 6th and 13th. These services will take place in Northwestern’s Chapel of the Cross from 4:00 – 4:30 pm.

All are welcome to attend!

Come a bit early to chapel on Tuesday, because we’ll start singing carols by 10:50 or 10:55. The service will be jam-packed with great Advent and Christmas tunes. Prof. Rolf Jacobson will be preaching!
